‘Reaching Jaywick’ is a three and a half year project funded by the Big Lottery Fund Reaching Communities programme to deliver a range of community activity in England’s third most deprived community, a coastal village in North East Essex. We aim to build on Jaywick’s exceptional community spirit and coastal location in support of the social regeneration objectives of partner organisations.
We invite applications for the following posts:
Project Manager (Fulltime) in the region of £25,000 pa
Project Officer (Fulltime) in the region of £19,000 pa
Project Administrator (Part-time) in the region of £17,000 pa pro rata (approx 18hrs per week)

Jaywick is a challenging place to work and the successful candidates will need strength of character, confidence and sensitivity.
All posts are based in CoastNet’s office in Rowhedge, near Colchester, Essex. The full-time post-holders will need a full, clean driving licence and their own transport. All appointments will be subject to acceptable CRB checks in accordance with CoastNet’s policy for working with children and vulnerable adults.
 
Project Manager
You will have overall responsibility for management of the project and for managing the project staff , delivering the project targets, leading community engagement, maintaining key stakeholder relationships, and reporting to Big Lottery Fund. This is a challenging post requiring maturity, experience and a broad mix of skills. In particular:
  • Project management in the public sector
  • Line management of staff
  • Community engagement and regeneration experience
  • Volunteer management
  • fundraising and budget management
  • Team worker
  • strong communication skills.
In addition to these key skills the following would be desirable:
  • Youth work experience
  • Event organisation and delivery experience
  • Experience of working with creative professionals
  • Knowledge of coastal issues.
 
Project Officer
Reporting to the project manager , you will be responsible for day to day contact with community volunteers, youth groups and external specialists. As the principle day to day face of the project and often first point of contact you will develop a good rapport with the community and will be able to reach under-represented groups. Essential skills for this role include
  • Youth work experience
  • Community work experience
  • Ability to work unsupervised and on own initiative
  • Event organisation and delivery
  • Experience of working with volunteers.
 
Desirable skills include:
  • Experience of film and media work
  • Experience of working with creative professionals.
 
Project administrator
You will be responsible for supporting the organisation of project events, for managing telephone enquiries about project events and logging participation of volunteers and others for project reports. Handling invoices and day to day purchases and recording project expenditure. As well as this office based work you will assist in event delivery in Jaywick. You will need to be well-organised, thorough and precise, and must be able to work on your own initiative. Essential skills include:
  • Proficiency using excel spreadsheets
  • Experience handling enquiries from the public
Experience handling invoices and simple accounting.
