Heather has an MA in Environment, Development and Policy, a degree in French and Spanish, a diploma in Public Relations and a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) qualification. She has 16 years experience spanning the governmental (European Commission), NGO and private sectors in overseas development, refugee community development, advice, advocacy and support, management, rural development and the environment, monitoring, administration, translation and teaching English.
For 3 years Heather lived in South America, where she worked as NGO and Environment Coordinator for the European Commission Delegation in Bolivia, and studied and undertook voluntary work in Ecuador. She also did some voluntary work in Sierra Leone, West Africa. She has travelled widely and has a passion for world music and dance, other cultures, languages and nature.
Before joining CoastNet, Heather worked for the Devonport Regeneration Community Partnership as a project link officer and as Manager of Devon and Cornwall Refugee Support.
A proud Devonian and south-westerner, some of Heather’s favourite coastal areas and memories are Mothercombe beach in Devon, Holywell Bay and Polly Joke in Cornwall, and running along Laka beach in Sierra Leone.
